Through a comprehensive, step-by-step online course and live masterclasses, you’ll learn hard-won, battle-tested strategies from two decades of record-breaking polar expeditions:

·       Harness unstoppable determination

·       Develop unbreakable tenacity

The Grit Toolkit isn't just about surviving. It's about getting from where you are to where you want to be.

From classrooms to boardrooms, my story has already inspired thousands to unlock their hidden potential.

Are you ready to rewrite your story of success?

“Whenever I meet a successful CEO, I ask them how they did it. Mediocre CEOs point to their brilliant strategic moves or their intuitive business sense or a variety of other self-congratulatory explanations. The great CEOs tend to be remarkably consistent in their answers. They all say, ‘I didn’t quit’.”

– BEN HOROWITZ

I’m Ben Saunders

My career has been unorthodox, and it’s taught me an awful lot about grit.

I’ve led Arctic and Antarctic expeditions for more than 20 years, I’m the third person in history to ski solo to the North and South poles, and I hold the world record for the longest ever polar journey on foot.

In 2014 I completed the expedition that defeated Captain Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton: a 105-day, 1,800-mile round-trip from Ross Island on the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back again.

TED called me “a master storyteller” and I’ve spent two decades telling the story of my expeditions – and of what I’ve learned about grit, determination, perseverance and self-belief – to audiences around the world.

“I'm convinced that about half of what separates successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.”

The Grit Toolkit Curriculum

The Grit Toolkit comprises six key components, supported by a total of 60 minutes of pre-recorded video/audio content, a PDF workbook, a resource vault that includes a recommended reading list, and unlimited access to live online masterclasses:

  • I've developed my own definition of grit through more than 20 years of experience in one of the toughest professional fields on the planet. I'll explain how my interpretation differs in one crucial respect to the broadly accepted definition of grit, and why this matters to you.

  • it’s difficult to be tenacious if you don’t care – or if you aren't clear – about the goal you’re pursuing. This section will help you develop clarity when it comes to your goals and your vision (and it'll teach you the crucial difference between those two things).

  • The Roman philosopher Seneca said, “Things will get thrown at you and things will hit you. Life’s no soft affair". This section is about the nuts and bolts of staying disciplined and motivated when the going gets tough.

  • Doing one sit-up or investing one pound or one dollar isn't going to achieve much. This section teaches you how to apply consistent and determined effort over time, and covers how to set effective goals and track your progress.

  • This section covers communication, teamwork and leadership, as well as the importance of mentorship and role models.

  • More on goals vs. vision, and maintaining motivation and self-discipline over extended periods.

  • A PDF workbook you can either print or complete on your own computer, plus lifetime access to the Grit Toolkit resource vault; a reading list, podcast, YouTube and further learning recommendations, plus additional advice – all regularly updated.

FAQs

  • Grit and resilience are universally applicable human traits, and I believe the knowledge and experience I’ll be passing on will benefit almost anyone.

If you’re pursuing a challenging goal in any field – or if you want to pursue one – then this is for you.

And if you’re at an inflection (or crisis) point in your own life, and not entirely sure what to do next, then there will be plenty of value for you too.

  • If you conclude that the Grit Toolkit has genuinely been of no value to you then I'll happily give you a no-questions-asked refund in full.

A big part of the story you'll hear has been about developing my willingness to believe in myself and to back myself – even when I’m trying something risky or new – and I’m applying the same approach here.

  • There's no prescribed timeframe, not least as my goal is to create a resource that will perennially useful rather than a one-time event. You could consume all of the content in a day, but my recommendation would be to spread it over at least a week.
